Azure AD Certification Based Authentication (CBA) Public Preview

Azure AD Certification Based Authentication (CBA) is now in Public Preview.  This is really exciting because this will allow customers to meet their PIV/CAC card multi-factor auth requirements without having to maintain ADFS servers for federated authentication.

AAD Cross-Tenant Access Public Preview

The AAD team has put in a new public preview for cross-tenant access settings for external collaboration.  With this new feature, you have the ability to trust security claims from external AAD organizations.  A good example is, if an external user from a partner organization has already completed a MFA claim in their tenant, your tenant will trust that claim and allow the user to have access to approved resources in your tenant without requiring the external user to perform an additional MFA check within your tenant.

Microsoft 365 Adaptive Policy Scopes for Retention

There is a new feature called Adaptive Policy Scopes is coming available soon that allows administrators the ability to apply retention policies and labels by user, site and groups.  This will allow you to create more granular rules that appropriate to for specific scenarios.  For instance, you may have exception policy where a retention policy may not apply or could be different based on set of criteria.

Microsoft Teams Information Protection

I have been getting lots of questions over past few months about protecting an organization’s data within Microsoft Teams.  These two posts were just made by Microsoft Teams and are a good introduction with additional references….

Microsoft Teams and Apple CarPlay

I noticed the past few Teams conference calls I have attended while driving, I was seeing some new Teams integration with Apple CarPlay.

Pretty cool.  I recommend folks give it a try.

"In addition to calling, your Microsoft Teams meetings are now available on Apple CarPlay. You can find a Teams icon on your Apple CarPlay screen. Simply use voice command through Siri to join your next meeting hands-free. You can also look up call history, make a call or send messages to one or more Teams contacts. Please note that this feature only supports audio mode to avoid distractions while driving."

Co-Authoring Support for AIP Files

I was extremely happy to see we are now publicly releasing co-authoring for documents that have AIP policies applied to them.  This had been a highly desirable feature I have wanted for years.  Collaborating on sensitive internal documents was very cumbersome until this feature came along.  Please review link for more information.
